Very likely, you would rather handle any marital difficulties long before they’ve become an actual marriage crisis. You probably would like to avoid waking up in the morning with the realization that your spouse, the love of your life, is angry or upset. More importantly, you want to preserve your marriage from more serious problems that could undermine your relationship. There very well could be some genuine reasons for concerns. It could be that you don’t really know why a crisis is happening. Thankfully, there are some things you can do to ensure that your marriage is healthier and avert a future crisis.

It may be that the way you stop a marriage crisis is to demonstrate to your spouse that you care. Be less concerned about the time and effort it takes to do something and focus on caring about your spouse. The crisis may be completely pushed aside if you simply spend a little more time showing care, affection, and attention towards your spouse.

What you do is totally up to you and what you might consider would be most appreciated by your spouse. This might mean you spend the money to take them out for a nice dinner, a night at the theater, or buying them flowers. The point is not whether you enjoy these things or not, but whether your spouse does. You will reassure them that you do not have to do something with some selfish motive or incentive attached.

Making the time to show you care goes both ways. You, as the other partner, should appreciate what your husband or wife does for you. Do you recognize what they do for you? It could be doing things around the house like dishes or laundry. Maybe your spouse cooked a meal for the both of you. When your spouse takes the time to do something nice, be sure you acknowledge it. Give thanks and compliment them for all that they’ve done since they took out the time to do it for you.

Don’t forget to be realistic in your assessment of their attempts. When you speak to boldly, it may be interpreted as dishonesty. Unfortunately, dishonesty is often one of the factors that most contributes to the growth of a marriage crisis.

A third step may include keeping your attention on what is positive about your spouse or what you know and love about them. It is easy to see how negative thoughts and feelings can lead to increased conflict between the two of you. These negative emotions can adversely affect your marriage or lead to a marriage crisis. There is no reason to let this happen. Try to remember that it is the little things that will make it easier to become more intimate with your spouse and more sympathy.

When a marriage crisis is occurring, it is important to realize that they are not solved easily. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to do what you can to make your marriage thrive. It’s important to remember when bad times happen, you should stop and consider your actions thus far. Don’t lose heart or give in when you think you may be the only one putting forth an effort. You should take it a single step at a time.
