When many people are contemplating exercises for love handles, they think of exercises for oblique muscles such as crunches, side bends, planks, and so on. However, I am putting it for you that these aren’t the most effective exercises to lose love handles. These are great for toning your oblique muscles, but that does not do much good when you have a layer of excess fat over your obliques. What exactly would be the real exercises for love handles?
Being a fitness professional, I recommend compound exercises which work multiple muscle groups to eliminate love handles. These are typically exercises like the bench press, the squat, dips, push-ups, and jumping rope. The key reason why I really like these exercises is that they burn a significant amount of calories in a small amount of time. Therefore, not only are you burning more calories, and therefore more abdominal fat, but you can leave the gym in the shortest amount of time.
I actually take this a step further. I’ll actually work several exercises collectively in a circuit using little rest in between exercises. This makes your workout a cardiovascular work out also, making these exercises even more efficient at eliminating your love handles. For example, use the exercises in this post and do them one by one, only taking just as much rest as you need in between. Your training session will burn twice the calories in half the time.
And so, I’ll provide you with a number of my best exercises for love handles. The first is the bench press. The bench press can be done using a barbell or a couple of dumbbells while you are lying on a bench. For basic reference, just about anything that can be performed using a barbell can also be done with two dumbbells. The bench press primary concentration is on the chest area muscles, it also works the triceps and shoulder muscles. You need to hold the barbell in a wide grip position or one dumbbell in each hand and drive up and down until you can feel your pectorals stretched. Try to get 8-12 reps. If you can do fifteen repetitions, the weights are too light and if you can do only 6, they are too heavy. 2-3 sets are a good start for newbies. The push-up is an excellent substitute in case you are working out at home.
Next is the squat. The squat is definitely an incredible calorie burner as it works larger muscles such as thighs and rear end, as well as lower back.
